Every single year when March rolls around, my first stop is always the same: McDonald’s. Not for fries. Not for nuggets. Nope. I’m there for one thing and one thing only – the beloved SHAMROCK SHAKE.
It’s a full-blown seasonal craving. The kind where the minute I see it pop back onto the menu, I’m already halfway to the drive-thru.
The only problem? Waiting an entire year between Shamrock Shake seasons is honestly a little torturous. Those long months in between Marches feel unnecessary when you know that minty vanilla magic exists. So…we decided to do something about it.
Enter: the Copycat McDonald’s Shamrock Shake.
We created this recipe below to help fill those Shamrock Shake craving gaps during the off-season. And to be perfectly honest…this version might even be better than the real thing (yes, we said it!). It’s creamy, minty, perfectly sweet, and incrediabley easy to whip up whenever the craving hits.
Give it a try for yourself and let us know what you think – because once you make this at home, waiting until next March might not feel quite so painful.

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup Vanilla Ice Cream (about 1/2 a small pint)
1/2 cup whole Milk
1/2 tsp Peppermint or Mint Extract
5-7 drops Green Food Colouring
Whipped Cream
DIRECTIONS:
- Add your vanilla ice cream, milk, peppermint extract and food colouring to a blender and process until smooth.
- Pour into a pretty glass, top with whipped cream and a fancy straw. Voila! Happiness in a cup.

Want to make it Boozy for the Adults? Just add 1/3 cup Bailey’s and 2 oz. Whiskey to the blender 😉
